I had been using the Savings Bond Calculator with success, but today I find that it can no longer save an inventory like it used to be able to do. It says Chrome and Edge are not compatible. It says IE is compatible but I just tried it and it doesn’t work either. Any alternative tools?
I have been using the Firefox browser, and it has worked (at least the last time I did it a few months ago).
This morning I tried it again and it’s working. Chrome.
That is great since I generally use chrome and my goto laptop is a chromebook these days…will give it a try. Thanks.
Yes….Firefox is the only way I am able to get it to work.
Looks like you can open a saved inventory in Chrome but you can’t save a new or updated version of your inventory….still incompatible with Chrome browser apparently.
Tom, when you save the inventory file to an .HTM file and click on it to open again, it displays a file but not the one you want. You have to scroll down a bit and click the UPDATE button, then it will display your inventory. This isn’t obvious.
The new savings bond calculator with instructions is a TOTAL DISASTER. I tried exporting my savings bond file and all I get is a prompt that asks me if I want to overwrite the existing file. Like a DUMMY, I said yes. It deleted the entire savings bond file. Fortunately, I had another copy on my computer as well as a hard copy of all the bonds and their serial numbers, etc.
The Savings Bond Calculator is very user-unfriendly, I agree. The Savings Bond Wizard was much simpler to use. The calculator seems to work differently on different Web browers, and different versions of the same browser. I’d definitely recommend keeping several copies of the files you are updating.
WHY???????? If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it! Have lost my inventories and am not happy! The Wizard was wonderful.
I agree, I much preferred the Wizard. If you still have your old file for the Wizard, you should be able to re-construct your inventory.
They took a working system and SCREW IT UP – can’t seem to get it to work at all!!!
I used it in early January and it worked, but I admit the process is clunky and the results aren’t as usable. They should have kept the wizard.
I’ve followed the guide and only the first bond shows up; I’ve tried four different browsers, and deleting their histories, with no luck, either with the full list or a partial list of but nine (9).
When you open the calculator, are you seeing your total holdings? And below that do you see just one bond? If so, make sure to click on “View All Holdings” directly below that one bond, and the full list should come up.
I can’t see a way to sort my Savings Bond Calculator based on date….I missed an entry and now the series of bonds is not in date order. I would export the data and use a spreadsheet to do the sort but can’t find a way to export or save the data in a way a spreadsheet program will be able to use it.
